Announcement of Maureen DeLorenzo, LCSW @ Wellness and Relationship Counseling, P.A.
Welcome to my ‘Wellness and Relationship Counseling’ Blog. If you are reading my blog, chances are you might have glanced at my homepage and are curious about me and my new practice. I am dedicating my first blog post to ME so you can learn more about my professional passion and practice philosophy. I am creating this blog to offer you my perspective on what some of the greatest experts in our field are saying about what it means to live life purposefully and have satisfying and loving relationships. I work with individuals and couples, specializing in EFT Couples Counseling, Issues of Aging, and Women’s Wellness…all of which you can learn more about on my website at wellnessandrelationshipcounseling.com.
I will start off by saying that I am so excited to take this next step on my professional journey and continue my passion for helping others live a fuller life. The slogan “Achieving optimal wellness from the inside out” on the homepage of my website reflects my passion for helping others reach their full potential. But what does this actually mean? Achieving optimal potential also known as “self-actualization,” which lies at the top of Maslow’s self-acceptance pyramid, means always expanding your horizons to continue to grow and learn as an individual. This psychological growth process is one of constant self-discovery which for many can be daunting. It can be exhausting, painful and overwhelming as we are forced to confront life’s greatest challenges and delve deep into difficult experiences. Delving deeper allows you to realize hidden patterns, mood states, how you relate to others, and so on. With a greater understanding of your inner world and emotions comes improved wellness and a better quality of life for you and your loved ones.
I help others do this by letting YOU define what optimal wellness would look like in your life. In other words, each person has a unique journey and there are no two roadmaps alike. I don’t give advice or tell you what you should do with your life or your relationship. I work with you to treat the conflict at hand and help you develop the tools to overcome it. Becoming vulnerable and sharing your story with a stranger can be very scary. I create a non-shaming and non-blaming atmosphere for you to explore, manage your emotions and restore bonds with those you love. Confronting life’s challenges can be an anxiety provoking process but also a great indicator that something wonderful is about to happen!
In closing, my practice philosophy is to ‘meet you where you are at’ and help you draw on your own innate strengths and wisdom. Khalil Gibran writes about creating the space and silence to listen to your heart’s desires when he says, “your hearts know in silence the secrets of the days and nights but your ears thirst for the sound of your hearts knowledge.” Whether you are struggling to cope with life, looking for a newfound purpose, or want to revive a relationship, I hope you will consider allowing me to join alongside you or someone you know work through life’s toughest moments.
